Alsace, 880. Répudiée par l'empereur Charles III le Gros, Richarde fait construire l'abbaye d'Andlau à l'emplacement où une ourse a enterré son petit. Des années plus tard, en 1760, un ours est aperçu dans la vallée de Munster. Tandis que les chasseurs le traquent, les jumelles Eva et Maria partent en quête de l'animal.
